Nea Plagia

Nea Plagia is a great settlement and seat of the municipal district municipality Triglia slopes in the prefecture of Halkidiki. In 2001 it had 1,249 residents. The beach town attracts many visitors each year.

Main occupation is agriculture and tourism professions. Mostly vegetables. Among others, the rural medical work, agricultural cooperative, nursery school, primary school and a cultural club. From sporting point of view is the active football team name (Diagoras Athletic Union), who struggled in the second category of the amateur championship of E.P.S. Halkidiki, in Southern omilo. The area inhabited from prehistoric times, as Toumpa, where settlements were at that time. The residents were refugees coming from side of Eastern Thrace. They have come and settled in the location now since 1922. In historical sites include the bridge of the 18th century, located in the stream of settlement with New Tenedos. The bridge is believed to have been built by monks of the shares of the Vatopedi Triglia and Russian share in Flogita or share Zografou Monastery on the homonymous village. After the rain before a decade, largely destroyed, and today there are efforts to restore it.
