Gerakini

Gerakini is situated 80 kilometers from Thessaloniki, only 14 kilometers from Poligiros and approximately 65 kilometers from the Macedonia airport of Thessaloniki.

Gerakini is located in the heart of Halkidiki and because of its geographical position, it makes it an ideal departure point for excursions to all three peninsulas of Halkidiki, as well as for trips to Thessaloniki and Mount Holomontas.

At the beginning of this century, it was a small community consisting of workers of the granulite mines in the area. Its present development started after the year 1960.

The village is one of the main tourist resorts of the Halkidiki region and attracts thousands of visitors every summer.

Gerakini's beaches are great and the main beach of the village is characterized by a long white sandy beach in crystal waters surrounded by two impressive pine-covered hills.
